Purchased at the Cellar Door on release and (accidentally) cellared until now..
Savory meaty notes, olive, gravel, and fadingf red fruited Syrah. The fruit profile had the feel of fading ripe fruit. Tannins are fully resolved at this point, and the fruit has a feel of sweet decay. The structure is faded and lost its frame. Still, it's reasonably well balanced and not unpleasant. Fading for sure even for me. I'm glad I held this this long as a learning lesson. The lesson was to drink it 8 years ago. 87

Good shiraz bouquet with chocolate, bacon and red fruits. Good concentration, black fruits and a firm amount of acidity, sweetness and bitterness on the palate. An elegant blockbuster, but one way or another not really exiting. Nevertheless a very good wine.

More subtle and delicate profile; black cherry, raspberry, still blackcurrant, smoke, subtle pepper and merest hint of mint, some leathery notes as it warms. More pronounced pepper on the palate, cherry, raspberry, chalky yet soft tannins. Smooth and light just lacking a little oomph. Drink up.

This was a very tasty Syrah - lots of berries and a light pepper, with a mid weight.

This bottle was drinking in 2012 and I thought it would be done. But I was so wrong. Exceptionally smooth, integrated and a beautiful mature NZ syrah.
