Finally, an occasion arose to open this giant bottle: we had some people over who like wine. I was definitely concerned that the wine would be over the hill by now but was pleasantly, and gratefully, surprised to discover that it wasn't. Our guests were suitably gratified, which is largely what matters. Quite delicate and subtle, creamy yet mineral, a hint of sweetness with citrus notes.

Almost straw colored, rich nose combining butter, oak, and minerals. Restrained fruit, decent acidity, complex and minerally finish. Oak is there, perhaps too much for me, but not outlandishly. Might be close to or past its prime.

Yellow. Toasty wood, butter, and orange. Pretty full, fruity entry followed by crisp acidity and surprising minerality. Not too woody.
