I think we bought this wine for less than 30 bucks at the winery. Popped and poured tonight. Cork with very little bleed. The nose on this bottle was VERY charged. Black cherry and red licorice spice all on the nose, and a lot of it. Poured a darker color than most Sangiovese wines. The nose made it seem like there was going to be some acidity on the front, but on the initial entry there was very little present. The wine was all about the black cherry, raspberry up front with an herbal dustiness and red licorice peering through in the mid-palate. Finished softly. Had some tannin on the finish but it really kind of accentuated that red licorice. Finished with a small amount of cinnamon spice. Went very well with a homemade goat cheese spicy marinara pepperoni, olive, spinach and mushroom pizza. This is a loud and proud sangiovese. FULL bodied as far as the varietal goes.

Pop and pour. There is a good rich core of black cherries framed by herbs and roasted tomatoes. The tannins are prevalent, perhaps over shadowing the fruit. Fair acidity. Drink now.

Raspberry, tobacco, and some great earth. Very nice Cal Ital wine from the Castle. Decanted for an hour and was very nice, I previously rated a 90 but this time I enjoyed it a bit more. It was showing very nice with nice texture and silky tannins.

Decanted and it was nice. Forgot notes, but recall it was paired well with food.
