We hadn’t ever heard of this producer, but the owner of one of our favorite wine bars in Madrid used to distribute it in Spain, so we decided to try this bottle in her bar, influenced as well by the great vintage. It certainly delivered beyond our expectations. Very fresh and almost exotic, surprisingly so, from the opening: lots of white fruits such as white peaches and melons, mango, pineapple, and grapefruit; white flowers and good-quality vanilla; with more air, it become quite lactic with mascarpone, fresh milk and butter, cream, and young cheese. We imagined something quite different, but not in a negative sense; being a wine from Ambonnay, we expected a higher content of pinot noir, but the dominant grape in this wine is actually chardonnay, which is very clear as soon as you smell it. The producer vinifies in stainless steel, but the bottle age has done it a big favor and it’s not one-dimensional at all; we enjoyed it a lot more than expected. The acidity is still high, enough so to keep it alive for years to come. Surprisingly ‘elegant’ for a wine from Ambonnay which, although we enjoy it a lot, is sometimes overwhelming on the palate. 92pt

UWS; A mixed set of wines (@ JB): Some brioche and slightly nutty flavors in the bouquet. On the palate brioche, crustacean and good acidity. Beautiful and complex wine.
