This could be the best of the three new ones I found in Italia. It is at least as good as the Giacosa and I like it a little better than the Braida. The braida was a mellower, less interesting on the palate. This Monferrato Casale grignolino was sharper, brighter and had very good fruit. Perhaps the Giacosa grignolino (though a 2004) was a bit fruitier and brighter, but a close call. If only these guys were available in the U.S. I would buy them up.
