4th Saturday group "uptown" tasting (M&R's): Double blind. Chocolate and black fruit notes follow through on the palate, turning sour and acidic through the finish. A good bit of alcoholic heat.

Fruit dominated big high alcohol Grenache. Little barrel influence. Big red lover type wine. Approachable now, red fruit, subdued nose. Enjoyable red wine but not worth 100 bucks.

Big Heavy Grenache based wine. High alcohol (16%) but not a major distraction. Fruit dominated and approachable with very little barrel influence. Very enjoyable for a big red lover but not a lot of charm or varietal character. For the price I would rather have a big Cabernet.

Second wine on the Spanish and Dessert wines table at the Third Annual Oakton Wine Shop Bucket List Tasting. Deep ruby red. Dark nose with layers of slate, graphite, blackberries, purple flowers and cherries. Medium plus tannins (7.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Rich spices on the palate with red berries, savory herbs, spices and a bit smoked. Dry and long finish. Still a baby needing some time to mellow out. Drink till 2033.

Tasted non-blind in a curated lineup of 20 wines at a wine bar. Wine #14. Big oaky nose. Crowd pleaser for sure but not my style.
