  • After three more years in the cellar, a bit more evolution for this second and last bottle. Better but still not as good as critics claim.
Nose of vegetal notes, spices, red berries and cassis, undergrowth and ashes. At first dry (from the wood) with discreet fruit/pit flavours. Structured with a umami feel. Aerated the wine in a carafe...no discernable deposits...became more supple with ripe fruit flavours. Short to medium finish on a bitter note...dark chocolate. Bottom line: good but lacks fruit, character and complexity. Better with food. Holding may not make a difference...I think.

  • Deep ruby colour. Nose of blackberry and anise with a hint of thyme. Smooth and herbaceous on the tounge with medium body. The flavour starts with soft red cherry, giving way to tomato and thyme in a lengthy finish. Well integrated and definitely ready to drink, but the tanins are still strong enough.

  • Vinturi aerated and decanted for about 60 min. Muted cherry nose with some vegetal notes and in the background something reminiscent of tar. Smooth with drying tannins and just the barest essence of berry fruits. The spicey medium long finish provided interest. Just an ok wine at this point that hopefully will improve with more bottle age. 3 bottles left, will try the next in 2-3 years.

  • Weak nose of vegetal and toasted notes...hint of red berries. Dry tannins...little to no fruit extract. I would describe as firm and hollow with a strong cocoa finish...rather short as well. Strange...lack of fruit flavours but nice feel and texture just the same. Expected much more given the vintage and write up. Unsure of aging potential given the absence of fruit.
