There is traditionally amazing longevity on these Equuleus wines, I usually don't touch them for a least a decade, so here at 12 years of age I thought it's time to drink up. It's pretty much where you'd expect it to be earthy and dried black fruit with woodsy notes, yet smooth and silky on the palate ... Time to drink up as there is less likelihood it will be getting any better.

Very nice wine that I would guess is at or near peak. Elegant and slightly smoky and paired nicely with prime rib roast beef. From a great vintage in Ontario.

Definitely time to drink. Has mellowed out nicely since my 2009 tasting. Very fruit forward with notes of cherry, smoke and still the slightest hint of Jalapeño.

The nose is initially more geared towards red bell peppers, though after a bit of breathing some black currants come through and a touch of smoke appears on the finish. The palate echoes somewhat the nose, with the acidity dominating on the finish on initial opening, calming down with just a bit of air.
