  • No history, this time.

I find Meursault wines just too Chardonnay-driven for my ageing palate, which is drying out. In fact, I am increasingly going to the Loire for my white wine. And what excellence there is there!

But there is great wine-making skills here, and most people who are drinking this wine will recognize them.

  • Two years later, and countries are still invading other countries, whilst I publish on Rilke and drink expensive white Burgundy. It doesn't seem right

Anyway, that is the way it is.

This is wine that develops only after a day or two. Prior to that, it has a slight fullness that my increasingly drying palate doesn't like.

But well done Leflaive. A great wine maker.

  • Good one here. No particular notes, but we all liked it and it went fast. Good acidity

  • What wonderful wine. What poise. What delicacy of utterance. The slight fullness of Meursault is there, but it is held in check with precise acidity. Analogical fruits are possibly pear and mango, but never mind the fruits, anological or otherwise. The quality of this wine lies in its purity of structure.

    Fantastic wine-making skills.

Just one final comment. 2014 is a superlative vintage, but I think it is starting to peak. On the back palate, the wine had just a hint of noble rot, which was not unpleasant but for me indicative that these wines can not be held for ever.
