Medium straw. Citrus, lime green apple, flinty nose with a charming cedar presence in the background. With more time the oak was getting more pronounced along with some herbal elements like mint and juniper. Medium bodied with high acidity, flinty minerality, salty moderated by the oak with long finish. Steel is always better than oak for me on Santorini but this is a burgundy like quality wine.

Like the Sigalas Assyrtiko from the same vintage, I thought the wine was much better on day 2, when the mineral character showed with more distinction. On day 1, I found more fruity flavors—peach, melon, and honey—while on day 2, I found more green apple and delightful saltiness. The oak was noticeable, but not obtrusive. This was a good wine, but I’m not sure that it was that much better than the Sigalas even though it was almost twice the price. Tasted next to a Vermentino from Sardinia, however, this was clearly the superior wine.

Like other reviewers have said, fruit is not really that prominent, neither on the nose, nor on the palate. Instead driven by minerals and with a hint of saltiness on the finish. Different, but in a good way. Crisp and clean are associations I get. Like it.

Vertical tasting of 2013-2021. Lots of honey, saffron, acidity still there. Still good but winding down, time to drink up.

Golden colour. Nice citrus notes, ripe, yeasty mineral. Fully mature with balance. Ripe fruit nice.
