  • Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. Clear, bright, medium ruby with a purple core but some garnet on the rim. The nose is clean, fresh, floral and very perfumed, with violets, roses and potpourri predominating over the fruit. No oak. The palate is dry and, quite unlike the nose, with tart black currant, aromatic herbs, licorice and bitters. The acidity, tannins and alcohol (12.5%) are all medium. This is a really well balanced and pleasant every day wine. It is fine by itself as an aperitif but is also food-friendly with the right pairing. I would recommend it with antipasti featuring salumi, olives, savory salads, even meaty fish dishes. It is still drinking well now and probably for another year, although it is best in its youth. This is really a delightful little wine.
