Day 1 - this has really rounded out nicely. Gave it 1hr of air and think it paid off. Nice dark and red fruit. Almost floral. Really nice expression. Will update day 2 later.

Typical Booker Syrah, full of flavor but a touch sharp in the finish. If that would smooth out, I might get to 95, it's delicious.
9/18/21 Another bottle, another 93. Perhaps a bit more powerful than the May bottle but still a bit scratchy in the finish which kept us from going to 94.

I loved this. Very dark purple in color. A breath of cocoa on the nose as the bottle was uncorked. Incredibly rich taste of blackberry, kirsch, licorice and cigar leaf. This has 5 - 10 years of development, but it is hard to resist now.

Informal dinner. No notes taken. We had this wine next to the Clape Cornas 2012 and the difference is of course stark but the Vertigo was just a tad behind and if it just would have been one glass it would have maybe won but this is still a baby, exuberant, sweet which can be tiring but it's a nicely complex wine with a broad array of well-defined aromas (wide array of fruit, spices and a nice minerality) and a good length. Can certainly gain one or the other point with a bit more age.
Decanting: No extensive decanting needed.
