Most likely wine of the night. Rich decadent and full explosive aromas of flowers, herbs, and mild spices followed by a medium body of darker cherries and spices. Excellent Barolo.

A dark, rich and imposing bouquet leveled out in the glass to reveal deep tones black cherry, sweet spice, animal musk and earth. I found soft textures on the palate, with sour cherry and a twang of bitter acidity, yet it remained fleshy, nearing on massive, but balanced throughout the experience. The finish was long on gripping tannin and tart dark fruit, yet weak on the mid-palate. With only the finish detracting from the experience, which will likely improve over time, I found myself liking the Brunate quite a bit.

Wines of Roberto Voerzio (Del Posto): Darker in color than Cerequio and more expressive now. Taste of sweet black cherry and a tarry, smoky accent on the nose. In the mouth, the wine is more diffuse, even elegant, though tannins became more apparent with air. Hint of cedar; a more masculine expression of nebbiolo.

An Evening with Barolo Icon Roberto Voerzio (Del Posto in NYC): For many this was the wine of the first flight (and I'll say I was coming around to it especially once it was paired with the beef tartare). Less fruit forward than the Cerequio this was mostly dominated by the minerals. Good rocky characteristics as well.
