Faurie's 2014 Hermitage is brilliant, offering up aromas of minty blackberries, cassis and burning embers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and layered palate that's fleshy, concentrated and penetrating. While the tannins are supple, a healthy dose of dissolved carbon dioxide argues in favor of decanting. How refreshing to taste Hermitage that actually tastes like Hermitage.

Opened for 3.5 hours. Deep, bright garnet color. On the nose: A bit subdued but I get Cassis, violets and Pepper. On the palate: Cassis, plum, cherry, a hint of dark chocolate and pepper. Very long finish. This wine is really easy to drink. Reminds me more of a Cornas than Hermitage in that sense.
