  • Chardonnay on the more subtle side.
Discrete aromatics on the floral side.
The texture is slightly watery leaving you wanting a little more textural richness and the acidity is quite strongly marked.
    Finishes on the acidity.

  • This is a repeat of the April 25th pairing of this 2010 and 2014 Hardscrabble Chards. And once again, the 2010 blew away the 2014. Baked apple, apple pie, baking spices, and grapefruit. Yet the finish has a milky finish with a bit of hazelnut. But as before, “this bottle left me underwhelmed. It lacked distinctness ...” And certainly was no match for the 2010. BB & PH, who joined us on their trek to see both PM (in Lexington) and family in B'burg, seemed to enjoy both wines, but easily noticed the difference between the two. 12.4% alc. With homemade shrimp stew. 10.30.20. Recommended with Reservations.

  • At then open:
Smells of Lemon, flint, and botrytis.
Tastes of lemon, lychee and gooseberry with convincing minerality.
    Moderate firm horizontal acid

Light and direct, but a solid performance; mineral forward.

  • Baked apple, apple pie, baking spices, yeast, and dough crust goodness. Not as much pear as in some renditions. A wine that reflects the gentle and genteel hand of its maker. Incredible balance. The finish is creamy butter with a touch of hazelnut. But this bottle left me underwhelmed. It lacked distinctness, crispness and snap. ‘And certainly was no match for the 2010. Hardscrabble. 12.4% alc. With homemade crab cakes and crab cassoulet from Tastings as we soldier on through the global pandemic and Shelter-in-Place lockdown under Gov. Blackface Northam (communist!). 04.25.20. Recommended.
