Made from a blend of Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro and Tinta Roriz, this wine has spent some time in French oak. Deep purple in the glass, I found aromas of dark cherry and liquorice on the nose. The palate is pretty savoury - bell peppers, toasty oak and spice. Very dry finish.

As dark as some of the syrahs that come from california with some of the same flavor profiles including tar and dark red fruits. As fresh as a young rhone sharing the same aroma profile with red summer fruits, good acidity, and a touch of earth and oak. As ripe a nose as a Yecla wine with notes of red licorice liqueur and sweet oak, but maintaining finesse. Talk about an interesting wine! Do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle of this fantastic Portugese wine, which can be found for about $15, cook yourself anything that goes with red wine, and enjoy. I wouldn't pick up too many as I think the novelty of this wine would fade as it did for so many people who bought too many bottles of the Luzon Luzon. Or don't listen to me and buy a case. I think it has the strucure to drink well for five to six years. I look forward to reading reviews in the years to come to see how long this wine will drink well. Cheers.

Young and fruit forward. Very juicy. Smooth tannins. Not very complex but quaffable.
