Wonderful Portuguese blend of Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, and Tempranillo. Aromatic, with abundant berry and floral notes. Palate is lush and velvety, like a Syrah, but has the nice tannic edge of Tempranillo. Plum, blackberry, and blueberry palate. Spicy, slightly caramel finish. Nice.

A blend of 40% Touriga Nacional, 40% Alfrocheiro, and 20% Tinta Roriz (aka Tempranillo in Spain) aged in 1 year old French oak barrels for 9 months. Deep purple red color, with moderate aromas of blackberry, cherry cola, black raspberry, and baking spice. The wine is dry, medium to medium heavy body, lively acidity, medium soft tannins and a long finish. The wine is very flavorful with dried cherry, blueberry, ripe figs, black plums, and a little brown sugar on the finish. A complex fruity wine which is balanced and food friendly. Try with grilled and roasted meats. 4/5

I'm a big fan of the simple, Quinta de Cabriz -- a super affordable treat -- and was looking forward to the Reserva. This wine is medium-to-full bodied. Has much more depth. Dark fruit. Soft mouth feel. Moderately dry. Nice.

Wines of Portugal: Leeds Trade Tasting (Park Plaza Hotel, Leeds): This has a fairly dull nose with some straightforward black fruit. Decent enough on the palate, but rather wild and spicy, though the spice would seem not to come from oak, as there are only quite delicate tannins on the finish. Very Good.

Very floral, berry filled nose. Palate is a bit tannic but ripe and has nice freshness.
