I received this as a gift and I think that its storage conditions were good, if not optimal. Opened and served immediately through a gravity aerator, at nearly nine years of age I was surprised that this 2013 Palazzo della Torre (L6243) still has decent freshness and vibrancy. That said, it is gently fading. Dark crimson, aromas of ripe plums and prunes, with savory, peppery flavors and a mild dried fruit finish. At 13.5% it has decent balance for a wine with lots of extraction. A consistent, reliable wine every year, with mass distribution, it has a very good QPR.

Soft, fruity nose with touches of underbrush and earth. Juicy and peppery on the palate with notes of black plum, damp earth and big, bright acidity. The finish is still showing soft, drying tannins that lingers along with touches of black fruits and flowers.

Took a while to open up. Had the nice dried fruit like anarone. Good leather, dried cherries and dates. Firm structure and a nice finish. Give this time after opening. Was better on second day

Round and smooth with dark plums, raisins and dates. Rich with an elegant profile. Dark chocolate and vanilla bean on the finish. Drink now.
