  • In my cellar since release. Labeled 13.5% ABV. Decanted at 5pm and tasted through 11pm, enjoyed with grilled steaks. This wine was so interesting...It is a translucent light to medium garnet with just a slight amount of bricking. The nose is so complex with layers of vanilla, light smoke, menthol, mint, cherry, tobacco and cedar. On the palate it is very elegant and balanced, very old school California, with a silky mouth feel and still lively acidity. Flavors mirror the nose with the addition of some red plum, cassis and earthy tobacco leaf on the finish. Balanced and elegant, perfectly ripe but feminine in nature. This was really surprisingly fresh and delicious and sadly my last bottle. A stupendous buy that I think I paid $15 for circa 1997.

  • A great Merlot with a lot of life. I think this was Bob Foley's last year as winemaker at Markham. He's a magician with Merlot.
