{screwcap, 13.8%} Rich black fruit, chocolate (oak?), medium/full weight, fine powdery tannins, decent acidity. A bit anonymous in style perhaps, but still a delicious mouthful of red which avoids all the traps including too much heat. No rush to drink either.

Thomas Elenay Virtual Tasting; 11/2/2021-11/4/2021: Red cherry, oak, cocoa and blackcurrant. Clean fruited on the palate, polished and medium weight. Bit less interest than the 2011 at this stage, but I think this has more space to develop.

{screwcap, 13.8%} Not decanted- possibly a mistake. Voluptuous nose, ripe red fruits, chocolate oak. The palate was more of the same; a rather slutty, lowish acidity wine with soft oak, plenty of red fruit and a slightly anonymous medium weight finish of medium length. Dry but just missies the mark by the highest standards, despite the medium/full weight. Too monochromatic. Time might help. Hold five years and see.

Hunter Valley - 4 Cellar Doors (Hunter Valley): {screwcap, 13.8%, A$45} A 60/40 blend of the Kiss and Sweetwater fruit to a 500-dozen tune. Polished, intense blue/black aromas. Has a real velvety quality to the texture, although still with medium weight tannins. Just a little cedary oak on the palate too. Rich spicy fruit flavours, medium/full body, even, beautifully-balanced palate, medium/long finish. Lovely wine, and quite good value.

Good example of the quality of the '14 hunter vintage. This is fresh and approachable now. In the usual Thomas mould - medium bodied and contemporary style of Shiraz. Perfect balance. I'm looking forward to watching all of Thommo's '14s mature.
