52nd TWIGS Meeting (KC and Molly's place): Cork. 15.5% alc. Mid garnet. Cherry, smoky, blueberry, rose petals. The palate has high acidity, with red current, minerals, volcanic ash/rock. Finishes bright but with some warmth and lingering tannin. It's youthful but already showing complexity.
Narello Mascalese from 80 year old vines. The wines undergo fermentation in steel vats, followed by malolactic and 18 months aging in large neutral oak barrels.
Contrada Porcaria (Contrada P) is a large old domain at 650m. The soil is made of a frail sheet of lava that splinters under one’s feet.

Wine Watch Ft. Lauderdale - Passopisciaro Tasting. - This wine is produced from 100 % Nerello Mascalese from the single vineyard Contrada Porcaria at 650 m (2,100 ft) above sea level. Light garnet to ruby in color with a nose of cherries, florals, and oak. It has flavors of black cherries, plums, minerality, menthol, and oak. Nice crisp acidity, medium bodied, and a short to medium finish.

Vinitaly 2016; 4/10/2016-4/13/2016 (Verona, Italy): 650m altitude, dense nose, ripe fruit, red cherry and berry, cinnamon and nutmeg, ripe currant, very welcoming nose, the palate is equally nice, nice oak frame, tight tannins but nice, great concentration, long finish with a touch of alcohol. Outstanding
