  • strong fruity aroma with a very fruity taste. Moderate tannins, smooth finish, with a touch of astringency. Very definitely an 85.

  • Definite red, maybe dark fruits on the nose with a bit of woody smell thrown in. Mouth felt light tannins and low acid, but after some time in the glass the acid became slightly unbalanced. Soft in the mouth, maybe slightly flabby to some, with little at the first taste followed by fruit, creaminess, then a decent fruity finish. Enjoyed the glass.

  • Chemicals on the nose, must be a Barbera signature, but mingled with overripe cherries and I’m almost smelling a bit of the Shaw in here. Not a good sign. This wine lacks definition. It is brighter and lighter than the other Barberas, which makes it go down smooth with the food, but it is disappointingly simple. Drinking it on its own is out of the question, too much acid, which tends to make it taste even cheaper.

  • clear (a bit muddy), garnet, M I, M P, M viscosity clean, youthful, red fruit, slightly melted red fruit, tart, vague must palate: dry, body is rich, smooth, full, acid is medium, tannin is medium, slight sensation in cheeks significying higher acid in bottle and more balanced palate, tartness on the nose melts into a balance of red tart fruit, creamy-ness from some sort of oak aging, and the finish is meidum and persistant. If you are afraid of high acid wines, this is within a comfort zone.
