  Cork was in excellent condition. Earthy cellar smell upon opening with mild floral nose after decant and airing out. Color beginning to brick around the edges. Light body. Red fruit, raspberry and perhaps strawberry but no overbearing sweetness and some residual tannin. Very nice and drinking well.

  nose of prune black olives and loam gives way to a perfectly balanced wine with fleshy mouthfeel and long finish. from reading other reviews it seems that it has lost some of the upfront red fruit, but wow this was stellar!

  Four hour decant, the nose is all about rose, tar, cinnamon and underbrush, I spent the first half an hour once it was in the glass from the decanter enjoying the bouquet alone. The palate is starts off well, with cherry, strawberry and underbrush with angular acidity and tannins. The mouthfeel is somewhat thinner than hoped for but still solid, the tannins taking over after the initial experience of the fruit. The cherry and underbrush along with cinnamon linger on for quite a while after each taste. More cellar time will likely help with the tannins and allow the floral elements to express more fully in the palate.

  This was a nice wine that went well with Italian food - as expected. Nice aromatics of red fruit and pleasant in the mouth. That said, I think this particular bottle was a bit off. It was missing something on the back end versus previous experiences with this wine.

  Wonderful wine. 2012 is a relatively friendly year for Barolo. Tannins are very soft. Tho bottle oozes Sweet red fruit, strawberry, a hint of raspberry and some sweet candy. Slight heat in the finish. Very enjoyable.
