Wine Bros: A Study of Syrah (Cowford Chophouse): It is definitely a bit hard to go back and forth in years with wines and to recognize what part of the wine is due to the differences in style and region and what is the age. We visited Bekkers back in 2019 and loved the wines. They are very classic in style. There’s a certain prettiness to them. A bit of pepper. Still some violets. A bit of dark fruits. It’s not as refined as the others yet but it’s also much younger. With time this will be stunning and I’m secretly glad it came only in a six-pack so we have more to revisit in the future.

Still young, plenty of time left. Beautiful nose, a touch closed, full palate, still fruit forward and long finish The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like forest floor, medium toast, coffee, black pepper and clove. It tastes like red currant, black pepper and thyme. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Double decanted, served low 60’s F
Star of the evening in reds. Round tannins, dark savoury fruit, long and supple
A couple of days later, still holding well, acidity holds it all together
Probably another five years before it peaks

Decanted three hours, 64f
Bright Crimson/garnet
Spice and black pepper. Does not feel 14.5% abv. Lovely balance, nice tension, hold next bottle for two years as there seems a god way to go yet
