Surprisingly good. Pleasant dark fruit, herbs and dark chocolate. Not sweet or spoofy, just a solid dry table wine with decent richness and vinous character.

We are not clear on the rating system, so we put it as an 85. This was a solid "second bottle" for the night. Good flavor. Good without food. It has a very light spice, but mostly neutral smooth flavor and tannin.

I am not so sure about this one (still swirling). Rarely, if ever, are we disappointed by a Portuguese red wine, especially from Symington. The nose is stinky and the palate is flat. Used the vinturi. Despite the off flavors and aromas, there is a really commendable light sweet plum flavor on the mid palate. The color is more light purple than we would expect. Don't think we can blame the cork, would find some wet cardboard, and would not get the surprising plum flavor. More swirling releases cough drop meets cranberry flavor. Will wait overnight, but might have to pour this out.

Very lively, great with pizza. Plenty of body, young(?) with some spice and unique flavor notes.
