Very good. Time in the cellar has has been repaid. Now would be an excellent time to start drinking up remaining stock. Sadly, I only had one bottle of this vintage.

GT Wine Tope Tasting Barossa Shiraz (8 Danks street, Sydney): Meaty, gamey, wild ferment, whole berry prettiness to the fruit, savoury green peppercorn spice. More of the same on the palate but there is an imbalance between the sharpness of the acidity and jubey sweetness of the fruit. Tannins are chalky. All travels long. Hmm.

By the glass at Bentley Restaurant & Bar in Sydney. Still fairly spicy with plenty of tannins on mid-palate. A touch bitter at backend. No over extraction. ABV 14.5% with very slight heat at finish. Decent Shiraz.

Spinifex Masterclass with Peter Schell (wine ark alexandria): Blackberry; ripe but savoury, black pepper, bit of herbaceousness, slave and slight black olive. Some cream and vanilla but very controlled, blackberry and black pepper are reversed here with the spice more to the fore with plentiful tannins. A little warm but relatively well contained. Very nice.

On the nose similar to the regular Spinifex Syrah but definitely more depth in the taste. Well worth the higher price.
