Decanted 2 hours. A wonderful, opulent wine with concentrated dark fruit, spice, mocha, hint of game. The wine is complex and very well balanced with well integrated tannins, great mouthfeel and long finish. Paired perfectly with grilled Wagyu ribeye steaks. It's essentially a perfect wine for those who like this style.

General comments from last night's dinner. Overall excellent wine but very tight despite a 2 hour decant. The tannins overwhelmed the fruit and the wine while excellent was not as enjoyable as most of the others at the dinner. It needs years longer in the bottle to develop, I estimate at least 10 years more. 1. 2012 Hidden Ridge Impassable Mountain 99 points 2. 2001 Monte Bello 98 points 3. 2014 Schrader RBS 97 points 4. 2011 Shafer Relentless 97 points 5. 2003 Dominus 96 points 6. 2014 Dancing Hare 95 points 7. 2014 Abreu Madrona Ranch 94 points 8. 2014 Pride 93 points 9. 1995 Yquem 95 points

Decanted 10 hours. Wow, what a stunning wine! This has it all, nose, palate, tannin/acid balance. Left a glass for the next day and it was still incredible. I think the tannin in this wine requires a HUGE decant if you plan to drink it soon. I’m leaving the rest of mine for at least 5 years.

Popped and poured. Strong nose of dill and coconut. The oak was overwhelming. Flavors of bold red/blue/dark ripe fruit, touch of spice, moderate complexity, long finish, with lengthy and grippy tannins.
