I still like it. A touch backwards, but showing off that blackberry, red fruit, and black pepper, among other complexities. Drink now or watch it age into something that’s probably even better.

2 hr decant. Nose of burnt out firewood, raspberry liqueur, brambly berries, big time cracked pepper. Medium bodied, red fruit, fruit punch, strawberry, gravely, sanguine. Medium acidity, no detectable heat.

This Rosenthal import is a deep-to-opaque Syrah that offers a nice nose of bramble fruits, smoked meat, black cherries and earth. Medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic and with latent alcohol (listed as 13%), it serves up flavors which are in line with the aromas and wraps them with medium-weight, fine-grained tannins. Fleshy in the middle and medium-to-long on the finish, this is a quality wine that is quite worthy of its price. Enjoy it over the next several years. Drink now-2025.
