Périgord Truffle Dinner (George Trois, Winnetka): Enjoyed as we settled in and squared away the other bottles with the somm and his team. Pale golden yellow color with notes of orchard fruit and cashew, with a hint of lemon curd as well. Fairly rich though retains a bit of cut and freshness due to its acidity. A lovely little Champagne to kick off the evening.

Pours pale gold with soft, persistent bubbles. Drinks like the liquid version of a hot, buttered up panettone loaded with dried fruits and soaked in rum. Liquorous depth and power framed in chalky minerality. My book informs me that this feeling of liquid Christmas cake is typical of autolysis in Pinot Noir.
Killer stuff. Hit the mark as the last wine of 2019 and the first wine of 2020.

Courtesy of slipstitchpass. Medium mousse. Violet and floral notes with red berry overtones. Fine bead. Flavors of red berry, candied cherry and dough- something along the lines of fritter batter. Really impressive.93+ pts.

May 2017 (tasting): I found it odd at first, maybe just as the first pinot champagne. But then grew to quite like it.
