Very floral nose - lilacs, with bright red cherry, spice, and earth. Leather and old wood finish. A nice food friendly red with some hefty but well aged tannins. Nice balance. Way better than my last bottle, which sounds like it had some reduction issues. Was it age or bottle variation?
Ruby red. An odd nose with of putrid meat, maybe a little rubber, cheese? After a lot of air time, it sort of blows off and let's the red berry and spice aromas through. Rather one dimensional, but nice red fruit, spices, herbs. Some raw wood with a leathery mouthfeel. A bit tannic, as expected, but lacking body. Quite acidic, but balanced.

TdT produces a reliable, typical Sagrantino at a great price (I paid $15), and this is no exception. My one gripe was a slight synthetic, rubbery note, especially with some air (which is counterintuitive). I am hoping with a few years that will dissipate and this will earn a few more points.
