Drinking stellar and lots of octane still in the tank. Dark fruit and smooth tannins, very active on the nose with graphite and mineral balanced by blackberry and cassis. Over delivered

This rich and floral mountain Cabernet is just entering its drinking window, but it's an intriguing combination of brambly Mt. Veeder fruit and comforting modern softness (e.g., new oak, ripe fruit, managed tannins). Even if this is a little more ready than the 2013, it still needs a year or two to integrate - but the core is there for something special.
Dark purple in color and full in body, the aromas of this wine are just enticing: black cherry and mocha combine with eucalyptus, warm rosemary, and lavender (of all things); smelling this is like walking through some kind of orchard in Tuscany on a summer day (warm, fruity, dusty, and fresh). The tastes are more compact: blueberry, leather, cocoa powder, and cedar, with a brambly and tannic finish. 14.5% alcohol. This wine got better on day two and even better on day three - a promising progression (for what it's worth). My guess is that this will shine in 2020 or later.

4th Saturday Group: Uptown Brown Bag (M&R's): Double blind. Deep opaque color with notes of violets, mocha, currants and blue fruit. I love the bouquet here. On the palate the tannins are firm, but quite fine. Flavors of cassis, black cherry and raspberry with oak accents in the background. Long finish. Guessed Napa cab. 93+ pts.
