  • Some would rate it higher, but those Meunier just never really get me going...

It seems like the wine lacks a bit of acidity and complexity... It is aged, with some brioche, but more like ripe old fruits, and some iron saltiness. Nose is oxidative a bit but not like on a Chardonnay, so it still does not give the buttery and complex character of other Champagne of the kind...

palate id dry, but could have more kick and again it s not overly complex, it stays on that oxidative and ripe fruits style most of the time... Pretty boring in the end. Considering the hype, and the style here... It's still very well made and maybe not meant to be aged at all ... I keep Champagne because I like too see whet happens along the way... not so much here

  • Quite oxidative style. A bit disjointed early on, but seemed to develop balance with air. I'm not sure if it's more the vintage or this particular style that I didn't quite love but it's still a quality wine.

  • Francoise Bedel L’ame de la Terre Champagne 2005

France, Champagne, 60% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Noir

    V 2005, disgorged 2016.

Coppery flax color. Medium small bead effervescence.

Bouquet of hot cross buns, yellow raisins, marzipan, lees, freshly bloomed yeast, port. Oxidative and complex.

Body is acidic, oxidative, and mature. Chalky and juicy acid with distinctive meunier flavors punch through. Tart cherry and cranberry, pie crust and cream, with Greek yogurt, cinnamon and clove. Long finish with baking spices and Madeira lingering.

Paid $65 though retail is ordinarily higher and with good reason. Very nice and vinous champagne that is ready for consumption.

  • Profil oxydatif. Nez exhubérant de cire d'abeille. On retrouve la cire, le mielleux, l'abricot confit, et de fruits exotiques en bouche. Bcp de matière, vineux, dense. Très long. Superbe.
