Dark-fruited and expensively oaked- floral and spice notes, rich blackberry and black cherry, sticky wet tobacco: this has a sense of polish and luxury- albeit, given it's not really a style I'm used to, I do find it a bit generic. It's not a huge wine though, medium to full bodied with silkiness, depth and energy on the palate, dark cherry and bitter chocolate concentration which lingers on the finish.

D+0h: a little bit of deposit in the filter, a little bit more in the bottle, smells of blackberry D+4h: dark as ink, on the rim slightly purple red, smells of blackberry, currant, raspberry and a little bit of eucalyptus, full body, smooth in the mouth, has a little bit of residual sugar, so not completely dry, in the mouth blackberry, currant, raspberry and a little bit of eucalyptus, in the aftertaste blackberry, currant, raspberry, a little bit of smoke and a little bit of acidity, very good length (one minute), we started drinking after a three hour decant, it was better after four hours, so I suggest a four hour decant if you want to drink a bottle of this now, good red wine, but somehow I had expected more given its price, it’s better than the average Douro red for 15 to 20 Euros, but not double as good as the price might suggest.

I really enjoyed this wine as did most of our guests. Black fruits, Red fruits, tobacco, leather. It was excellent. Decent QPR, decanted for about 3 hours. We had it with lamb but were almost finished before the meal was ready! It just went down very smoothly and it was delicious. I would definitely buy it again if I can find it.
