  Probably near or at its peak, classy wine with nose of red berries quite fresh, balanced spicvy and well made, classy Rioja from a very good winery, not sure this is worth the considerable difference between it and the 'straight' Lanzaga though, bit pricy for little improvement.

  2 hrs decant and could have used even more. Still very tannic. Aromas of pomegranate, sweet pipe tobacco, leather, vanilla, chalk. Tastes of plum/ pomegranate, clove. Palate not yet completely integrated; still quite young. Could merit higher score in about 5 years. Well made and still has lovely tension. Would leave for another 5-10 years.
  Score: 93+. Relative to expectations: +

  (BBR Spain Tasting) :: Nose is relatively restrained and tight, but showing delicate notes of balsam, clove and cherry flesh. Mouthfeel is excellent. Soft tannins and good structure; med+ finish.

  Lift and purity of fruit on the nose, good concentration, earthy, mineral with ripe tannins. Very good length. Needs time. 92-93+
