Slow ox’d this for several hours and drank over two days. Unfortunately I don’t do enough WA wines so I didn’t know what to expect here. This was weighty, tar, tobacco, rich, fine chocolate covered cherries. I liked this but it didn’t have the fruit or meaty characteristics I’m used to in CA Syrah. So yes, I do have to get away from CA Syrah and expand my Syrah landscape.

Decanted several hours outside (chilly out). Rich and plummy on the nose with a kick of mocha right up front and center. Light cinnamon and baking spice. Palate shows more austerity. Bitter cocoa nibs and black and blue fruit. Chewy and showing lots of extraction. Still young actually. This should develop a little more in the bottle but should be decanted now.

This was very big and fruit forward, more so than the other K Syrah’s I have had. Certainly very good but will be much more interesting with some age on it. Hard to rate as we had it right after a 1969 BV cab, so it really was night and day!

Classic Syrah. Better than most Rhones. Better than even a lot of Paso Rhones.
