2022: Top Ten Wines; 1/1/2022-12/31/2023 (Redwood City, CA): This wine is in a fantastic place. PNP, based on my prior tasting note and it was present right from the beginning. Medium ruby color, with some hints of garnet. Extremely earthy on the nose, with only the hint of dried fruit or maybe fruitcake. Aromas of potting soil, green olive and a faint wisp of truffle. The palate is another matter entirely. Smooth and succulent with forward flavors of tart blackberry and pomegranate, with a peppery finish. Robust and round, with velvety tannins. I'm thrilled to see that I have more of these waiting for me in my cellar and I recommend you break one out if you have some in yours!

2.5h air, but I doubt most, if any, of that was really necessary. Medium-deep ruby color. Aromas of strawberry, blackberry, pepper, clay, cured meat and chocolate. Smooth and succulent on the palate, with flavors of red and black berry, significant spiciness in the mid palate and hints of blueberry and anise in the lingering finish. A scaffold of sinewy tannins and edgy acidity provide ample structure for this seductive and developed CdR. In a great place right now, and really shines in the finish.

DnP. Dark red, red tinged, 5.5. Oxidised bouquet like some C9P can be. +2h: Not ox. but grenache-liquer. Difficult to nail down. Wait? Off bottle?

DnP. Consistent albeit a bit more complex. Drink now for sheer fruit and power or wait some years for more complexity.

nose of blueberry pie and spice. some initial sharpness. needs a little air. then smooth, velvety, well-integrated, fruit dust spice. nice.
