This wine is in a great place and is likely to hold here for a few years. I’m quite sad this is my last bottle.
Nose shows mostly black/blue fruit with a hint of strawberry coming through, pepper, spice like a BBQ rub, cedar, and a hint of secondary earthiness coming through. The palate leans more to the red fruit, with lots of spice, pepper. The finish starts off with bright red fruit (almost sweet in character) that lingers for quite some time with that spice coming through later. Quite a long finish. Medium tannin and acid. Everything is so well balanced.

Previous vintages of Limerick Lane zinfandels from both Bedrock and Carlisle emphasized red fruit, more or less excluding darker stuff. In a change that I welcome, both wineries' 2015 Limerick zins feature a ton of black and blue fruits to complement the strawberries. However, I like the Carlisle a lot better. The Bedrock checks all the boxes, but, to me at least, it lacks the vibrancy (wow factor) it would need to earn a score in the low to mid 90s. I may be an outlier, or maybe this bottle was, but I calls them like I sees them.

First wine of the night tonight and, due to surprising timing on guest arrival, popped and poured just before serving. Still, it showed very well and got spontaneous praise from multiple folks. I think this is at peak, based on this bottle, but there’s no need to hurry. Delicious, and true to its Russian River roots.

My original remarks about this wine stand. Outstanding balance and fruit with a bit of crisp acidity to make it all work.

Delicious. Light and bright with depth to the mid palate fruit and a clean, clear finish. Smooth and fine tannins. Lots of polish.
