Xanadu Chardonnay, 2015 2015, Margaret River, Australia Chardonnay
Tasted on a summer afternoon in Sydney Australia, not tasted with food but pairing suggestions added. I found this a light, friendly, rich Chardonnay. This is one that I think even the ABC crowd would enjoy.

The 2015 Reserve Chardonnay is simply gorgeous, offering up a complex, deep bouquet with aromas of orchard fruit, spices, curry leaf, lemon, and flowers. Full-bodied, perfectly balanced and profound, it’s seamless and complete with bright acids and a resonating, long finish. It’s a stunning rendition of the Chardonnay grape.

This might be their 3rd tier Chard, but it sure stands up well on its own. Perhaps as the Indian Ocean continues to cool, all Chardonnay boats will rise in Margaret River?
Burgundian...in aroma only – poached pears, & hazelnuts on the nose – very clean & fresh.
The palate is intense (once at 50°) & mid weight. Creamy, almost yogurty texture (perhaps from the lees stirring?) with stone fruit & grapefruit flavors. No MLF. Solid mineral finish. Tempered use of oak here - not much new, I suppose.
Drinking well in its youth but can go several years – no doubt.

Overall: A nicely balanced new world Chardonnay; it has a strong acid backbone to anchor the solid fruit intensity (with some slight tropical leanings) and leesy/oaky richness. The salty minerality is also a welcome balancing point to the fruit and oak. This is starting to develop some nice tertiary, nutty notes and a little bit of dried fruit; it has the structure and intensity to age well for many more years. Very enjoyable and a good value!
