Initially a dusty nose and tasted like it was way over the hill but really opened up after a couple of hours with nice combo of red fruit, mushroom and even a bit of structure from tannin. Overall, past it's prime but still interesting.

Tasting 4 Chateau Montelena Our Fifth Open House. Had a bright red color in the glass, showed no sign of age, typical burst of fruit on the nose led to a rich, fruity mouthful of zinfandel that is both chewy and luscious, it went well with the Pate Maison with Burgundy, tried twice just to enjoy the marriage of flavors, slightly one dimensional but soft, supple fruit and lots of zinfandel flavors.
