Milan Wine Event 3 - A 2014 vintage check up (Altrimenti, Milano): From magnum. Aromatically this is just the number , ever so welcoming with grassy, citrus notes. Mineral and well polished on the palate but where this falls short is the finish. Just sort of vanishes and this is the low point of an otherwise exceptional wine. 90-91 with with decent life ahead.

Golden in color now from aging, adding some more complexity to it. Beautiful nose of ripe apricots and tropical fruits, some vanilla. Oily and concentrated with an endless finish for a white wine. Great stuff.

Italian Wine Scholar at the Texas Wine School. This is a really elegant blend of 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. Medium straw yellow with some green hues. The SB comes through primarily on the nose, which is youthful and complex, with aromas of white peach, pear, passion fruit, vanilla and oak spice. The palate is very dry and crisp, with medium (+) to high acidity, medium (+) alcohol (14%). Partial malo, with aging on the lees for 12 months in large botti and tonneaux, adds a creamy note to balance the acidity. Medium (+) flavor intensity and salty minerality on the medium (+) long finish. Drinking well now although likely to increase in complexity with a little more bottle age. WS 91.

One of my favourite producers from Alto Adige. On nose, tropical fruit, wet stone, and green apples, on palate, good structure with strong mineral sense, and fresh slice of pear. Still very young. A lot more years to come. Variety: 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay, 10% Sauvignon. This wine actually goes very well with the traditinal Malaysian Chinese New Year dish - Yee Sang, we had last night. Yee Sang is Teochew-style raw fish salad is believed to bring good health and wealth for the upcoming year.
