  • Decanted 2 hours and rebottled. Consisten with previous note. Lots of ripe black fruits with nice balance and a medium plus finish. Tannins are moderate at this point. Really good Napa Cabernet that is still drinking very well.

  • Decanted 3 hours and rebottled. Full bodied with lots of black and blue fruit on the initial attack. Some notes of tobacco and graphite on the mid palate and a 30 second finish. Agree that this seems a bit less complex than some other vintages. Maybe this was a slightly subpar bottle. Still very good but slightly below expectations.

  • Decanted for 3 hours. Solid core of black fruit, some cassis and cigar box. Not much secondary nuance to offset lqack of real power or grip. Expected better based on recs. Hard to believe 2001 is a decade old as I remember drinkg some great bottles at release..

  • Wine in Portland (Maine) (Portland, Maine): This was served at cellar temparature...pop and pour. Thought the dark fruit on the nose was incredibly rich, but had great balance. Many Napa cabernets explode with dense, pure fruit but do not have balance...this is different. Kudos to the winemaker for creating a wine that has beautifully pure black fruit combined with distinct old world tones of cedar, bell pepper and earth. No sign whatsover of this even approaching it's plateau. Will be a beautiful wine to taste again in a decade.
