  • In it's absolute prime. Opened for about 30 minutes before first glass. Didn't decant. Stunning nose of black fruit, damp soil, baking spices. Intense expression of terrior, very much old world style wine making with Diamond Mountain fruit profile shining through. Very complex layers and notes and the wine continued to evolve from first sip to final. If you have them you've got another year, maybe two before they begin to decline. I'm glad I chose not to decant, although there was a lot of sediment in the bottom of the bottle at the end which needed to be avoided. Very sad that this was my last bottle. 50+5+15+18+9

  • Color: Pigeon's blood ruby with a clear meniscus
Smell: Cassis, blueberries, clove, boysenberry, a hint of graphite with an underpinning of tobacco & leather.
Taste: Black & blue fruits and a long chocolatey finish...
Overall: This is just a lovely wine...I'm glad to have had every bottle I've opened...even if some were too young. This seems like it's in a good spot right now. If I had more I wouldn't hesitate to pull one out and start drinking them. Outstanding!!!

  • Decanted 2 hours. Consistent with prior notes. This wine shows no sign of decline. Maybe takes a little less time to open up but still drinking wonderfully well.

  • Color:
Smell: Blueberries, graphite, clove, boysenberry, tobacco, leather, and potpouri
Taste: Blue & black fruits, mineral, dark baker's chocolate, mushroom, cigar, and beet greens
Overall: It's been three years since my last bottle...it was hard to decide to pull the cork on this. However...time has served this well. With just a pop n' pour it's already singing. A lovely wine that has decades ahead of it...and I'm down to just one bottle. Best to forget about my other bottle...it will be a true treasure in another 10-20 years. Outstanding!!!

  • Decanted 3 hours. Consistent with previous notes. Very dark color with ripe dark fruit and green vegetables on the nose along with a little mint. Very full bodied with lots of black fruit. Notes of tobacco, green vegetables and graphite. Long finish with smooth tannins. At 10+ years old this is still going strong and has the structure and fruit to last another 10 years or more. I feel this is the best Cabernet Teachworth has made. Still needs plenty of air before consuming.
