I don’t recommend holding such a wine this long, but the vintage was very ripe and it has certainly held up. Color still dark and displays a brooding garnet. Bouquet suggests over-ripe raspberry and black cherry. Fruit holding on the palate with the warm oak starting to dominate. Tasted this years ago with winemaker Mark Lyon and his gifted hand has produced a small gem @ 15 years of age.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #047; California. (By AW): Enormously tertiary bouquet with rust, tea and wet forest floor. Same in the start, but on the mid palate a little more acceptable with chocolate. I hardly have experience with Californian Pinot Noir, but this must be an off bottle. No score.

Consistent w/notes from Jan. After an hour the aromas stepped up a notch, deep, dark cherry and vanilla on the nose, that really blossomed as time passed. Solid effort for a pretty big pinot, from my perspective (there are many bigger Calii pinot monsters out there...) well worth purchasing and seeking out. Drinking at its peak now.

Popped and poured drinking from Riedel Oregon pinot noir stem. Immediate aroma of cherry, spice and nutmeg. This is medium-full bodied w/a silky refined texture that I really like. Almost like an ultra fine syrah, as it's fairly big @ 14.4% alc While I prefer Burgundy and Oregon pinot, and believe in being true to the varietal, there is something appealing about the high octane Cali pinots. This is certainly one of them. Drinking at its peak now, an excellent QPR.

I enjoy this style of the more hearty PN. Scarlet red in color. Nice fruit on the nose and great balance. Dusty blackberry, meaty, and cherry cola does describe this wine. Should be slightly chilled before drinking.
