Had it blind and I said Napa Cabernet right out of the bat. The year I was off, I thought it was a bit older despite the high acidity and tannin concentration (which sounds counterintuitive) but the boldness and complexity made it a good dinner paired with prime filet Mignon.
The handler said to have short double decanted. It keep improving during the 1+ dinner.

No formal notes, as I was enjoying my birthday and not being especially analytic. What stood out were the plush black fruit and a nice gravely/mineral note accenting it. Full bodied, and ready to go with an hour of air. This was my first Maybach and was certainly very good. Given the reputation, though, I was expecting more of a “wow” experience for the $.

PnP. Improved with time. Huge nose with blackberry, cassis, floral, crushed rock, pencil shavings. Similar favors with the black fruit dominating with some red fruits, cassis, pencil shavings. Moderate tannins in the long finish. Beautifully balanced. Drinking well now, but no hurry to open.

Think there must be bottle variation as my previous bottle 3 years ago was sweet and overly extracted. This was pnp and was high toned, red fruits, with lots of minerality and tannin. Started to mellow and with air.
