90 minutes in Decatur – this is what you want from an aged Syrah. Cork broke during removal and had to be filtered during decanting, and was allowed to sit for 45 minutes. 2 hrs after decanting there's toasted wood, burnt vanilla or sugar on the nose. Really well balanced and as noted by others in the prime of it stricken window. Really dark, age fruit, earthy notes with a hint of tobacco. A little pepper but none of the vibrant spice you frequently find in the varietal.

Needs a few hours of air...in the pinnacle of its window it's pretty amazing . Perfect blackberry fruit with kiwi edges....spice and complexity. Really great. After 5 hours or so a tar edge becomes apparent that detracts from the fruit core

Sweet black fruit aromas with hints of clove and black pepper. Intense black fruit again on palate, also slightly sweet but enough structure to retain balance, with the length and persistence to really be interesting start-to-finish. I would not have thought this would have aged this nicely.

(DuMOL Syrah Eddie's Patch) Earthy, soft peppery nose; tasty, black fruit, licorice and tar palate, tight yet but good acidity and balance; medium-plus finish 90+ pts.
