Medium-dark smoky brick red color. Aromas of forest floor, moss, cherry, and smoke. Palate has cedar, cherry, some leaf notes, and some chocolate and coffee on a medium finish that shows some drying barrel tannins still. This has matured into an interesting middle-aged wine and is a pleasant experience with a meal of chicken, mushrooms, and oven-roasted cauliflower. Drink or hold.

Brick red color with browning at the rim; transparent throughout. Aromas of smoke, tea, leather, and cherries. Palate shows bay, cherry, black tea, leather, and a smoky element. The finish has a strong barrel tannin component that dominates and dries out the finish, but not so much that it tips the scale to undrinkable. This has nice acid structure that keeps it fresh, albeit lighter bodied in the mid-palate. The first Marcile-Lorraine. Good now, should make old bones, thanks to the vintage. Drink or hold.
