  • Zoom blind tasting #6: Chambolle-Musigny and Vosne-Romanée (At home during circuit breaker): Really nice, but 5-10 years too young. Another wine with perhaps a touch more oak on the nose than I would have liked, but this was otherwise really quite nice smelling, with little bits of earth, subtle tones of dark cherries, and a nice wood spice character at the edges of the bouquet. It was very good on the palate. This had lots of life and energy coursing through its veins, with bright acidity and fine tannins framing a lovely mouthful of blueberries and sweeter red cherry and raspberry tones, again laced with that nice bit of spice. Still really young and primary, but this had a lovely tensile strength to it, along with a nice breadth and length that carried it into a nicely minerally finish. A solid Vosne 1er, with plenty of the ripe deliciousness of the 2015 vintage, nicely wed to the elegance of the Beaux Monts terroir. There was just a smidgen of obvious alcohol heat on this on the backplate at first, but this faded with time and air. Still a baby - not quite a waste to open it, because it was delicious even now, but it really could have used another decade or more in the bottle.

  • Black raspberry fruit on the nose. And some stems. That brings a touch of smoke. Or I am guessing that is where that is coming from. And tight across the palate. Direct. Again,
Would love just a bit more ripeness.
