I'm picking up on a titch of effervescence, which does not bother me at all, and a slight tangy sensation which to me indicates this wine may be on the decline. Otherwise the oak is fairly predominant here and quite enjoyable, with other notable flavors of melon, honeydew, creme brulee and a hint of fresh lemon zest. Overall really enjoyable, and I would drink now.

The capsule and cork showed signs of minor leakage, so I coravin'd a small sample before bringing to the restaurant (it was fine). This showed richness on the palate, with vanilla and caramel notes, but balanced by a solid acid backbone. Such a different style than the Chablis and white burgs in the preceding two flights, but a fun juxtaposition.

Monthly Tasting Group: Chardonnay (Oceanaire, Mpls, MN): Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. This was richer and more flashy than the Rhys, sweet like fruits, pear, green apple, good length and acidity. Very good 91+pts.

Quite a lovely wine. Drank it over the course of 3 days, with no loss in quality at all. Nice balance and interplay of freshness with the tertiary characteristics you would expect in a chardonnay beginning to enter its prime drinking window. Pineapple, stone fruit and that oh so lovely wet river stone, flint quality I love when I find it in a chardonnay.

Zippy acidity, a touch of reduction, bright yellow fruit. Really lovely and in the prime of life.
