Upper echelons of very good in terms of quality, but this is not for me. Not too different from Shaw + Smith's M3, which for me is not a positive. For my palate, rich oak and smoke overwhelm the fruit. Almost smoked back bacon character. Nah.
Edit: Better fridge cold, have bumped score to 90.

Return to Aus; 6/23/2019-7/5/2019 (Adelaide, South Australia wine regions, Tassie, Yarra, etc.): I am very sensitive to a lot of Chardonnays so take this note with that grain of salt. Any that even hint of that old school Cali style (e.g. have some oak treatment, are perhaps a touch ripe) get to me. This for me was quintessential chard and I reacted against almost immediately. It's got lemon and slate and just something that sets off the part of my brain that doesn't agree with this grape.

NobleRottersSydney - Christmas Lunch 2018 (Noum, Surry Hills, Syndey): {screwcap, 13%} [Gordon] Youthful notes of melon and nuts. Cool-climate quality without being unripe or devoid of generous flavour. The palate has lovely balance along the tongue; it’s medium bodied with medium level, natural-tasting acid. There’s a hint of quartz about the texture too. Medium length finish. Quality stuff.

At tasting of current release Shaw & Smith and Tolpuddle with Adam Wadewitz Fine restrained, v. elegant. Will develop well. Beautifully fine, lovely acid. Flavours are restrained and need time. Beautifully made. Needs 5+ years. Shown alongside the 2014 Lenswood (the first vintage), which showed a lychees character on the nose and palate. Nowhere near the length and refinement of the 2016, which shows the work they are doing in the vineyard. Still a well made wine that needs time to be at its best.

2 weeks in Australia with a stopover in Singapore; 6/14/2019-7/1/2019 (Singapore, Sydney, Adelaide, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills): Tasted at the winery. From a high cool site of east facing blocks. Goes through full malo and uses 1/3 new oak barriques & puncheons - 9-10 months in barrel. Stuck match and golden apple on the nose. Tart apple, bright acidity some creaminess on the finish.
