What a great Syrah! Big and full, a mouthful of flavor. Can't remember a better Syrah than this, a special treat to drink alongside Alban Seymour's for lunch of deli sandwiches. A great Syrah day!

USA Syrah tasting in Vino and Friends. (By JK in Maastricht): In the bouquet fresh dark berries and licorice. On the palate chocolate, sweet berry juice, good bitterness and (slightly) sticky tannin. The alcohol shows a bit, but overall a very beautiful wine. 95 - 96

Of the 2010, 11, 12 and 14 -- all of which I have had in the past few months, this one stands out as the best of the bunch. Very well integrated and balanced. As you would expect, tons of dark fruit and dried meats, but nicely energetic on the palate and finish (including no obvious heat on the finish). Nice almost sweet light tannins add more structure. Very full bodied, as deep purple as you could imagine, yet fantastic with any number of big foods (I had it with a ribeye grilled with smoked mushroom/onion coating).

Lisa Perrotti Brown Hospice du Rhône Seminar (Blackberry Farm): dark violet; floral, black pepper; blue fruit; great vintage, 100% Syrah, about 80% new oak
